    My Bang Krang Birds Index...

    In May, there are a lot of butterflies🦋 in Ban Krang. Ban Krang officer does not allow to drive a car🚜 inside. While I was walking, I saw the nest above the way. I looked around the nest and saw a black bird on a tree not far from the nest. It seems the bird took a look at the nest from time to time. I thought there were kids in the nest. I checked it out with my camera. Surely, it was a dusky broadbill🐦.

    Suddenly, it started to rain. I was hurrying to move to a place where I would get less wet. The bird also moved to another tree around there. I thought it looked like me to stay away from the rain. The rain became heavy. The bird was still there and still looked at its nest. It's a very good parent, right? 

    Dusky Broadbill has a big red bill, a black body, and its neck is yellow. I think it is the biggest broadbill. It shares work, one of these takes the food, and the other takes care of the nest. They are good parents. It's time to snap a picture. Shep...shep...shep...

Ban Krang camp Diary - ch.6 Blue-bearded Bee-eater

    My Bang Krang Birds Index...

    It's almost sunset time🌄. Not only birds but also me had to go home🏡. Without the sunlight, it's quite difficult to watch birds and we might see some wild animals 🐆🐅🐍🐘🐯 instead.  It's also the rule of the National Park to get out before 6.00 p.m. 

   On the way to drive down the mountain🚗⛰, I plan to watch birds on the way till the end of Kaeng Krachan national park. I opened the windshield for the chill air to find some birds. LOOK! What's that bird? It's on the top of a tree🌳. The tree was not far from my car, but it was so high. I use my camera 📷 to zoom it.

  What I see was the green body and its beard was blue, I was sure it was the Blue-bearded Bee-eater. I noticed it flew to catch insects🐛🐜🐝🐞 and then back to the same location that I found many times.  I pressed the shutter from the car because I was afraid it would disappear. 

Shep shep shep shep…. It’s a non-stop shutter sound from my camera again.

Ban Krang camp Diary - ch.5 Banded Kingfisher

    My Bang Krang Birds Index...

    Banded Kingfisher is found by listening to the sound or watching the bird's nest. I found it by watching the bird's nest. I walked the nature trail with my camera and my tripod. It was not far from the entrance. Then, I saw 7-8 people with big cameras. I was pretty sure that they were waiting for birds. Their telephoto lens told me that they were birders. 

    Suddenly, I stopped walking. For me, it wasn't difficult to locate the birds because I followed the direction from those lens.   YES!!! It was the Banded Kingfisher's nest. It looked like soil on the tree, but it was an anthill. All birders including me should stay away from its nest. Otherwise, the birds would not come to the nest and might leave their nest. After that, I put the camera on the tripod. Then I wait, wait, and wait.

    Look! I saw a bird with a long red bill. It might come from the Kingfisher family. Also, it had blue and black stripes. It's a male Banded Kingfisher. Oh! Its head looked like a crown. Wow! Its crown can move. Shep shep shep shep…. It’s a non-stop shutter sound from all cameras.

  However, I haven't found a female one. It has brown and black stripes.  

Ban Krang camp Diary - ch.4 Silver-breasted Boardbill

     Around the start of Khao Phanoen Thung, I saw something small, but very pretty.  I used my binocular to check it.  It looked like birds in Boardbill family.  However, its colors didn't look like other Boardbills. It had a silver necklace. Its belly is white. Its wings had many colors such as black, blue, white, brown, and orange.

    No Doubt...  It was a Silver-breasted Boardbill. The silver necklace told me it was female.  Wow!!! What was in its mouth? It held an insect that looked like a grasshopper in its mouth. Then, it flew to the nest and fed its kid with the insect.  I felt that it was a warm family.  The instinct of parentship was not only in humans but also in many animals.

   I kept very quiet to take a look at bird feeding. Otherwise, they might leave the nest. The little birds in the nest might die finally.

Ban Krang camp Diary - ch.3 Blank-and-Red Boardbill

My Bang Krang Birds Index...

    In May last year, on the way to Ban Krang camp 🏕, I saw something that has red on the tree. "What's that?", I said to Mom. I asked her to back up the car. OH!!! It was a Black-and-red Boardbill. It looked lovely. The red throat and belly attracted our eyes. Its bill came with a bright blue maxilla, and yellow mandible.

These characteristics make it unique from other birds in the Boardbill family.

    We stopped the car a bit far away from the bird. I got off the car and took the camera and tripod. I walk quietly to it. Then, I put the camera on the tripod to prevent the camera not shaking from clicking the shutter. I hope my shots are not shaky.

Ban Krang camp Diary - ch.1 Banded Boardbill

My Bang Krang Birds Index...

    In March, Banded Boardbill can be easily checked in at Ban Krang camp in the morning.  Birds in the Boardbill family seems to be colorful and with big bill, so they’re tagged as “Cartoon bird”. If I see a bird with big mouth, it might come from Boardbill family. Especially, if it has big turquoise-blue bill, ultramarine iris , pinkish-maroon body, and wing with yellow stripes, I guess it is "Banded Boardbill". 

    Shh Shush.. Shh Shush.. everyone keeps quiet when they are waiting for birds to come. 

    Oh!! It has a necklace. It is a male.  Shep shep shep shep…. It’s non-stop shutter sound from my camera. It isn’t difficult to snap pictures of this kind of bird, but it isn’t easy to have beautiful pictures. Sometimes, some leaves🍃 hide the bird so that I can’t see the bird clearly, so I have to move to another place where I can see it clearly. Anyway, the bird stayed quite long with many acts. I got the nice shots finally.
